TV writer and producer Vinta Nanda’s rape accusation against actor Alok Nath shook the industry. The writer in a wave of #MeToo supposed Nath of raping her 19 years ago during the shooting of a TV series Tara. She also said that it wasn’t a one-time incident. Now, Alok Nath’s wife Ashu Singh has decided to move to the court against these allegations. According a report in Times Of India, Nath’s wife, has filed an application in the Chief Metropoliton Magistrate in Mumbai’s court, demanding the police to examine the matter. The couple has also filed a insult suit against Nanda.
According to their lawyer, Ashok Saraogi, the accusations have left Singh and her husband terrified and it has brought major damage to their image. “A complaint was submitted to the police for defaming my client; we have also moved court in the matter,” Mumbai Mirror recited the advocate in the report. Ashu also alleged that the show shut down due to some other reasons, however, Nanda, still holds a complaint against Alok and blames him for the closure.
For those who are ignorant, Nanda in her long and vivid Facebook post stated that Nath spiked her drink and raped her. She told the incident, “I started to walk home on the empty streets although the distance to my own house was long. Midway I was accosted by this man who was driving his own car and he asked me to sit in it and said he would drop me home. I trusted him and sat in his car. I have faint memory after that. I can remember more liquor being poured into my mouth and I remember being violated endlessly. When I woke up the next afternoon, I was in pain. I hadn’t just been raped, I was taken to my own house and had been brutalised. I couldn’t get up for my bed.”
On the other hand side, Nath hasn’t come out in open about the entire mess. In a statement he said, “Neither I am denying this nor do I would agree with it. It (rape) must have happened, but someone else would have done it.”
