Asian Blind Football Championship: Indian team beat Malaysia 2-0


The Indian team performed brilliantly in the IBSA Blind Football Asian Championship. In the tournament played in Pattaya (Thailand), the Indian team defeated Malaysia 2–0 in the match for fifth place. The performance of the Malaysian team, ranked 18th in the world rankings, faded.

Malaysia’s team could not stand ahead of Indian players. Uttarakhand’s Shivam Negi scored two goals for India. Earlier, the Indian team played goalless draw (0-0) against Korea. In Group A, they finished third after China and Thailand, followed by Malaysia for fifth place in the tournament.

Indian Blind Football Federation (IBFF) advisor Dr. Jani Vishwanath said that India participated in the Blind Football Asian Championship for the second time.

The team consisted of Pankaj Rana, Shivam Negi, Suvendra Singh (Uttarakhand), Prakash Chaudhary (Delhi), Antony Samuel (Kolkata), Clingson Marak, Gabriel Nongrum (Meghalaya), Goalkeepers – Sujeet PS and Anugraha TS (Kerala), while the coach As Sunil J. Mathew contributed.
